Know it all

Do you know something about all of your youth? Do you know their passions, their hobbies, their pet peeves? I try to know as much as I can about all the youth that come to our group. I however make sure I know something about everyone. I make it a point to know something about everyone so that I can talk to everyone. Yes it does take some work and yes it does mean you need to invest some time but isn’t that why you’re there int eh first place. Besides, it means something bigger than you might think for a youth to come to a group and have somebody there remember something about them, especially if that something is important to them. It can be as simple as knowing their favourite football team and asking how they did that week. Show you care about them by caring about what they care about. But don’t just ask care, honestly listen and try. Do you care about football? Maybe not but thats not the point. You may know nothing about football and may have no idea what they are talking about but if you are genuine and trying to care about what they care about then the youth knows that you care about them. It shows that they are something more than just a number at your group. You don’t have to know it all but you should know something and that something could be knowing just enough to ask.
